GTC251: Horton Hears a Hue

Same3Guys GameTime Cleveland

Summary:

Fortunately the NBA playoffs don’t start in January because the Cavs failed miserably in their test against Golden State. If the good guys were trying to send a message, it got returned to sender. Meanwhile Hue Jackson is busy filling out his staff and the NFL playoffs are as crazy as ever. It’s GameTime!

1Q: Cavs Drilled By Warriors

  • What’s up with that? Cavs lose 132-98 at home to Golden State.
  • They were not mentally in this one. Too easy to blame the long road trip on this one.
  • The Big 3 weren’t in this one. Lebron 16, Irving 8, Love 3 pts.

2Q: Browns Coaching Pursuits

  • Hue said he wants to call his own plays. But he will need an OC anyway. So he found one in his friend and former Raiders OC Al Saunders. Together, they helped produce the 2nd most prolific offense in Oakland their one year there.
  • Horton heard a Hue. So he answered the call to come back and be the Browns DC.Do we really need Ray Horton back as DC? Does he still want little guys that can hit and big guys that can run? How did that work out for us last time?
  • Jackson said in an interview that the Browns need a QB. Will it be Goff at #2 overall? Perhaps.

3Q: Browns Rebuilding Plans

  • Meanwhile, WR Josh Gordon has applied for reinstatement to the NFL following his year-long suspension
  • If you draft a young QB, how do you address potential holes in the O Line? Do you keep Joe Thomas, Alex Mack and Mitchell Schwartz?
  • What about other veterans, like Dansby, Haden and Whitner?

4Q: NFL Final Four

  • After all 4 road teams won in round 1, this time all 4 home teams advanced.
  • More wild finishes. Teams still can’t stop Green Bay Hail Mary’s. Unbelievable comeback to tie the game only to see Arizona win it thanks to a huge play to Larry Fitzgerald.
  • Panthers jump out to 31 point lead and then hang on for dear life against the Seahawks.
  • Patriots have no problem with the Chiefs.
  • Denver advances against a banged up Steelers team.
  • NFL Championship Weekend. Who ya got?
    • New England at Denver
    • Arizona at Carolina
