GTC253: SuperBowl 50

Same3Guys GameTime Cleveland

Summary:

It’ll be a long wait before we see football again now that SuperBowl 50 has come and gone. We’ll recap the big game and check in on the Cavs who hit the All Star Break. Will they make any trades before the deadline? It’s GameTime!

Hosts: Mike KresicTom Kresic

Running Time: 43:19

1Q: SuperBowl 50

  • Broncos 24, Panthers 10
  • Denver’s defense dominates in this one.
  • Kept Cam in check and sacked him 6 times.
  • Peyton wasn’t the star here. Didn’t have to do much, just not turn it over.
  • Denver’s offense had the worst game for a winning team in the SuperBowl.
  • When #1 defense is in the SuperBowl, they are 10-2.

2Q: The QBs

  • Peyton got his second NFL Title, matching his brother Eli.
  • How impressive is it that Peyton has been to four SuperBowls with FOUR different coaches and TWO different teams? Becomes the first to win a SB with two different teams
  • Cam getting a lot of heat for the way he stormed out of the post-game presser and for not diving on that fumble with the game still in reach (they trailed by 6 pts at the time)

3Q: Cavs Still Working On Things

  • Cavs hit the AllStar break at 38-14, in 1st place with a 3 game lead in the East
  • Stunning loss at home against Boston (squandered 5 pt lead with 18 seconds left).
  • Rebounded to beat New Orleans, Sacramento and the Lakers in Kobe’s final appearance in Cleveland.
  • Nice to see Kyrie tie his career high 12 assists in Monday’s win against the Kings
  • Kyrie needs to distribute the ball. Too often it ends once it gets in his hands.

4Q: Will Cavs Make Any Trades

  • Kevin Love had two injuries in the last week, leaving the Boston game with an injured hip and then leaving the Lakers game with an injured shoulder.
  • Cavs said to be actively working the phones ahead of the Feb 18th trade deadline. Ben McLemore from the Kings may be one option.
  • Joe Johnson could be added if he secures a buyout from the Nets.
  • Would you tinker with this squad or let them be?
