Should the Browns just hand the QB reigns to Manziel? Are all of these injuries becoming worrisome for the team? The Buckeyes make history in the preseason rankings. And the Indians may have a front office shakeup on the way. It’s GameTime!

Hosts: Mike KresicTom Kresic

Running Time: 47:04

1Q: Browns unimpressive in loss to Bills

  • Final score: Buffalo 11 Cleveland 10
  • Defense couldn’t get QB Tyrod Taylor off the field. He led the Bills down the field on long drives. Didn’t give up many points, but they didn’t exactly pressure the inexperienced QB.
  • Offense didn’t look good either. McCown threw a couple of ugly picks, was sacked and just looked out of sorts all game.
  • Manziel looked better against the backups, throwing for a TD. But he’s missing practice due to a sore arm.

2Q: Can’t make the club from the tub

  • Still way too many guys not suiting up due to injury. Some are vets (Haden, Thomas) and that’s probably not a big deal.
  • But other guys (Pryor, Bowe) haven’t seen any action or have struggled (Gilbert).
  • Starting O-Line need to play together to get in sync. QB behind them needs that, too.
  • Young RBs need experience picking up blitzes and finding holes. Hard to do that when you are not playing. Duke Johnson has yet to suit up in a game. May see him in Tampa this weekend.

3Q: Who will start at QB for Ohio State

  • Will Urban give the starting spot back to JT Barrett or go with Cardale?
  • Will he platoon these guys?
  • Barrett would love a chance to redeem the loss to Va Tech from last season.
  • With 4 starters suspended for Week 1, does that make this a fair fight?
  • OSU has been voted the unanimous preseason #1. That’s the first time this has happened since they started doing rankings in 1950.

4Q: Indians Front Office Shakeup?

  • What to make of the rumor that Mark Shapiro may be headed to Toronto.
  • Toronto President Paul Beeston retiring at end of this season.
  • Blue Jays have more payroll, compete in AL East
  • Francona’s contract gives him an out if either Shapiro or Antonetti are not with the team. Would he skip town? Maybe follow Shapiro up North?
  • Shapiro has been with Indians for 24 years. He was GM from 2002-2009 and President from 2010-present.
