  • Amazon announces 5 new Kindles
    • Two PaperWhite models (with and w/o 3G)
    • Kindle Fires 8.9” 4G LTE ($499 for 32GB, $599 for 64GB)
    • Kindle Fire HD 8.9” ($299 for 16GB, $369 for 32GB)
    • Fire ($159 for 8GB) & FireHD ($199 for 16GB, $249 for 32GB)
    • Reversed their original decision to not sell these without ads. Now, will let you pay $15 get ad-free versions
  • Nokia unveils two new Windows 8phones
    • Lumia 920: 4.5” display, NFC, wireless charging, 8MegaPixel camera w/1080p video (available in several colors)
    • Lumia 820: 4.3” display, removable shells to let you change colors, wireless charging
    • Expected to ship in early November
    • Nokia had to wipe egg off its face after failing to disclaim images and video in ad were not made using the product
  • Apple unveils iPhone 5
    • 18% thinner, 20% lighter than iPhone 4S, 4” diagonal screen, 1136×640 res
    • now 16×9 aspect ratio, 5 rows of icons 9 (not including bottom dock)
    • LTE for faster wireless speeds
    • 802,11n 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, up to 150 Mbps
    • ARM A6 processor (2x faster than A5 chip in the latest iPad)
    • Improved camera (like 4S). Built-in panorama to the camera app. 1080p HD video, face detection, take photos while recording video
    • three microphones (bottom, front, back)
    • new 9pin, reversible connector (Lightning)
    • New earbuds: the EarPods
    • $199 16GB, $299 32GB, $399 64GB
    • 3GS is gone. iPhone 4 8GB free, 4S 16GB $99
    • Pre-order: 9/14; Ships: 9/21
  • iOS6:
    • no new features announced that weren’t already discussed at WWDC in January.
    • No NFC
    • iOS ships 9/19
  • iTunes/iPods:
    • iTunes sports a redesigned interface. FaceBook sharing built-in to the iTunes Store. Say goodbye to Ping.
    • Not available until late October.
    • iPod Nano:
      • all new design, multi-touch, Home button, video, 2.5” screen, pedometer,
      • 7 colors
      • Bluetooth (A2DP for your car if it supports it)
      • iPod shuffle, $49. iPod nano, $149.
    • iPod Touch:
      • now 5th gen, height of iPhone 5, faster, thinner and lighter,
      • 5Mega Pixel camera, LED flash, 802.11n, Siri
      • 5 colors & a WRIST STRAP to color match!
      • Keeping the 4th gen iPod touch, 16GB at $199.
      • New iPod touch: 32GB for $299; 64GB for $399
      • Available in October
